Fashion Project Edition 5 FAQ
- What is Fashion Project? Fashion Project is about promoting diversity and inclusivity in the modelling industry. It is a social project that aims to connect people, help achieve individual’s personal goals and boost one’s confidence. Models will get to showcase local designers creation. The model who presents best of their unique style and personality will get the best stage presence winning title Top Model.
- When and where is the event? 2nd October Sunday 730pm at Mills Park Centre Beckenham
- What is Fashion Project mission? Promote diverse modelling and break the stereo-type thinking. Fashion Project is for everyone no matter how young or old, experience or not.
- What are the requirements? There are no height, no size, no gender, no experience and no status required. Only willingness and participation. However models under 18 needs would need to have a parent consent when joining.
- How can a model apply for Fashion Project? You can apply by registering your details online https://modelsandpageant.org/fashion-project-application/
- What are the models expected to do? Models will be expected to walk the runway doing their best to showcase the garments.
- What are the segments on this runway? There are 3 segments. 1. Casual Wear – T shirt from Models and Pageant with jeans/ short/ skirt model has to provide. 2. Designer/ Brand Wear – outfit lent by the designers/ brand if available. 3.Evening Wear – preferably long dress for female and suit for male.
- What is the registration fee for model? Registration fee is $150 for models.
- What is the registration fee for? Registration fee is to cover some of the expenses for the event such as venue hire, photography, prizes, etc.
- What do models get for when joining Fashion Project? Registered models get Fashion Project T-shirt, promotional shoot, link to photos on the event night and a gift as a token of appreciation. You may also get a prize for if you’re awarded as Top Model. You also get promotion, exposures in the modelling industry and may be referred to International Pageants.
- What outfits will be required from models? Models are required to provide their own jeans/ skirt/ short that they will pair with the Fashion Project T-shirt. Also an evening outfit (preferably long for female or suit/ business shirt for male) that they would model on the stage. Designers will provide one outfit for the model however if nothing fits from their collection model has to provide their own cocktail wear or smart casual.
- Is it possible for the designers/brand to provide more than one garment to model? Yes it’s possible for designers/ brand to provide more than one garment to models.
- Do i get to keep the designer’s outfit? Unfortunately not as it cost money to construct these garments. Unless you are willing to pay for the garment you can do so by speaking to the organiser or designer
- Who are the Designers/ Brand showcasing in this project? Designers/ Brand will be announced closer to date.
- What are the winning titles for models? Fashion Project winning titles are Fashion Project Top Model, 2nd Top Model and 3rd Top Model and possibly some minor awards.
- What are the winning prizes? The winning prizes (which not everyone would receive obviously) are combination of cash, products/ services, sashes, crown/ tiara (depending on availability).
- Can I share the events on social media and to my friends? Absolutely, you can share the event to help promote not only our event but also yourself. Sharing and encouraging your family and friends to come to the event gets extra points to help in winning the title.
- What is Model Referral Program? Model Referral Program is where we put you in the books and refer you if suitable when modelling job arises. Models and Pageant are being approach by photographers/ businesses and international pageant organisers. Some of them are paid modelling jobs and most of them have different standards and requirements. We refer candidates who are suitable for the title but subject to their approval. Budget also depends on the hirer and are sometimes based on the model’s experience.
- What are the criteria for model judging? The criteria for judging is how the models would present themselves on the stage and on the actual night. Most importantly their behaviour during and when participating in the event plays a big role.

- Are there rehearsals prior to the event? There is a general rehearsal for everyone participating in the event. Even if you do not have an experience you will be taught what to do on stage. To advance your skill a one-on-one or group coaching is optional for a fee and confirmed booking is required.
- What do I prepare for the actual event day? Prepare yourself. Get to the venue with your makeup on. Have all your outfits ready, such as your Fashion Project T-shirt, your matching jeans/ skirt/ short with it, your designer outfit (if the designer handed it to you), your evening wear (preferably long for ladies or suit or business shirt & slacks for men), your shoes, your accessories, your makeup for retouching, bring a bottle of water and other things you might need.
- What else do I prepare before the event? Prepare yourself by practicing your catwalk with the pattern given to you. Practice your own signature pose or projection. Practice your facial expressions. Practice taking time to walk on the stage because when it’s your turn it is your moment everyone is focused on you.
- For girls is it necessary to really wear high heels shoes? Heels adds a bit of figure and helps with posture but wear something comfortable that you can walk on. Please wear shoes that will not come out of your foot when walking. It’s best to practice with it first for a few days before the event.
- On the day of the event can I get ready on the venue? It is best to arrive ready for the show at the venue. Girls shoud already have their hair and makeup done as we will be doing the final rehearsal before the show. After this we will have a little break for your chance to retouch and then we start the show.
- What time do I arrive at the venue on the day of the event? Models must arrive exactly at 6pm and final rehearsals starts at 610pm. Please don’t be late.
- For girls what type of makeup should I wear? Makeup can be minimal or can be heavy depending on your choice and outfit.
- What type of hairstyle should I do? Hairstyle should be slick back with gel or spray net. Tied back for the girls with longer hair. If it can’t be tied slick back is fine. You can alter your hairstyle on each segment considering the time as we only have 10 mintues break for the next segment. Also hairstyle depends on the outfit you wear.
- Where is the change room located in the venue? Change room area is behind the stage. Please be mindful not to occupy most of the space as it is shared.
- Will someone do my makeup in the venue? No one will do your makeup in the venue unless you arrange your own makeup artist. Anyone you bring at he venue must purchase a ticket of course.
- How about if I bring makeup artist to retouch me during the event, do I need to buy them ticket? Yes you must, your makeup artist need a ticket to get in the venue. You need to also ensure that they won’t leave a mess or any drops of glitters on the bench or floor as if this happens a cleaning fee will be charge to the model who brought them. They must also not occupy all the space as it is shared with the other models.
- Can I bring someone to assist me on the event? Yes you can but they need to purchase a ticket to get to the venue.
- How about my own photographer does he/she need to get a ticket? Yes your own photographer needs to purchase a ticket and when they take photos of you they should not get in the way of the official photographer and other guest.
- How about my family, boyfriend/girlfriend, best friend can they come to watch? Yes they are more than welcome to watch as long as they purchase a ticket. Literally anyone you bring needs to have a ticket and due to Covid restrictions the number of attendees needs to be controlled.
- How much is the guest ticket? Guest ticket is $45 each.

- Is there an early bird ticket? Early bird tickets are already sold out. However you can get a discount if you are buying 10 or more tickets. So for 10 tickets it would be $400 instead of $450.
- Do you accept sponsors? Definitely by becoming a sponsor business get exposures thru the events we do and promotion on social media. Sponsors are also welcome to choose one model who would be ambassador for their brand or services.
